Volunteer Van Driver Food Power Network

Description

Are you a confident driver with some time to spare? Do you consider yourself adaptable, enthusiastic, and reliable?

Join our volunteer electric van team (full training provided) and make a difference to local people. Help the Stockton-on-Tees Food Power Network fight food waste and prevent hunger across the Borough.

Our drivers collect food from supermarkets and deliver it to schools and community pantries, preventing food waste and preventing hunger locally. Our regular deliveries focus on pickups and drop-off locations within Stockton-on-Tees, with one monthly collection of food parcels from Sedgefield.

The role is flexible, and deliveries run across the week. Just let us know your availability, and volunteer flexibly to suit your schedule. A rota timetable is sent to volunteers via email for the following week of deliveries.

Van volunteers are expected to ensure compliance with all relevant safety / fleet procedures. After training, all volunteers complete a short van driver assessment to comply with Stockton Borough Council’s insurance process.

Purpose of the role:

The Stockton-on-Tees Food Power Network is a network of foodbanks, community pantries, charities and community groups. We work together to prevent food waste, alleviate food poverty and build community skills – like growing food, cooking workshops and much more. Our electric van is just one way we redirect food waste away from landfill and donate it to organisations who will benefit. Find out more about us on our Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/Stocktonfpn
