Red Balloons is a Lived Experience Charity. Everyone involved has lived experience of poor mental health, and we use that to support others. A big focus of the Charity is encouraging people to use physical activity to support their mental and physical wellbeing. Our Peer Support services are free and open to anyone who is over 18 and struggling with their mental health. We offer a safe, non-judgemental space where people can talk about how they feel but there is never any pressure. We encourage involvement from those who use our services and have a number of avenues for them to get involved.
We are governed by a Board of up to nine Trustees, who are generous in giving their time to the organisation. They set Red Balloons’ strategic direction, annual budget, and monitor progress at quarterly meetings. Our Trustees have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them, which is invaluable in providing support and direction to the staff team, led by the highly experienced Leigh Trimble, CEO of Red Balloons.

We are happy if Trustees would like to be ‘hands on’ and get involved in groups but we don’t have the expectation that people would be.
We are looking for passionate people to join our Board who want to be part of supporting the Charity to expand its services to support more people with their mental health and physical wellbeing. The services we deliver work and we’re looking for support to widen the area of delivery while keeping the grassroots, community led culture of Red Balloons.
