Red Balloons is a Lived Experience Charity. Everyone involved has lived experience of poor mental health, and we use that to support others. A big focus of the Charity is encouraging people to use physical activity to support their mental and physical wellbeing. Our Peer Support services are free and open to anyone who is over 18 and struggling with their mental health. We offer a safe, non-judgemental space where people can talk about how they feel but there is never any pressure. We encourage involvement from those who use our services and have a number of avenues for them to get involved.
We are governed by a Board of up to nine Trustees, who are generous in giving their time to the organisation. They set Red Balloons’ strategic direction, annual budget, and monitor progress at quarterly meetings. Our Trustees have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them, which is invaluable in providing support and direction to the staff team, led by the highly experienced Leigh Trimble, CEO of Red Balloons
Four Board meetings year
Advice to the Board and CEO on financial matters, and in particular, on the financial information presented to the Board
Contribution to Board meetings on all matters relating to the governance of Red Balloons
Answers to queries from the CEO and Board members between meetings – unlikely to be frequent, but it will be helpful to have a Treasurer who is available to reply to emails periodically
We are now looking for someone with some background in managing an organisation’s finances, or in accountancy, to be our Treasurer. Formal financial qualifications are not essential – more importantly, we need someone who is used to setting and managing budgets, reading and interpreting accounts, and who can advise the Board and CEO.
Secondly, we are looking for volunteers to simply join our Board who will bring with them their own unique skills and knowledge.
