We are looking for some exceptional, personable and reliable
people to join us on our Catalyst Reception. This is a varied and crucial role.
You will be the first point of contact for members of the public contacting
Catalyst, dealing with incoming enquiries by telephone, email or in person,
signposting guest to services and passing on queries to colleagues as
appropriate.
In addition, you’ll help set up meeting rooms and
appointments for guests and other external visitors as well as monitoring
office equipment.
You’ll provide additional assistance for visitors with individual
needs following Catalyst’s procedures e.g.: guidance for visual impaired
service-users or support for those with mobility issues.
You’ll be part of a growing team who love making a positive

Responsibilities
Welcoming visitors to Catalyst House
Setting up rooms for meetings/ conferences
Answering the phone in a professional and
welcoming manner
Passing queries to the appropriate member of
staff
Taking messages and ensuring they are passed to
staff
Using IT systems to update records and use online
calendars
Maintain confidentiality throughout the service
(making the service user aware information will be shared with the Volunteer
Coordinator where necessary)
Knowledge & Skills
An understanding of challenges and
barriers that service users may face would be useful but not essential
Ability
to support, encourage and enable others to fulfil tasks and activities
IT literacy and skills would be beneficial, although
training can be provided
Personal Qualities
Team player and a confident self-starter
Friendly, respectful and non-judgemental attitude towards service users and their needs
Demonstrated good listening and personal skills
Reliable, trustworthy and proactive
General Requirements
Time commitment:
We request that volunteers offer at least one half day a week either 9am-1.00pm or 1.00pm-5.00pm
Support/Training:
Catalyst will provide necessary training and 1-1 support
throughout your voluntary service, including:
Induction

expenses (including travel and out of pocket)
