This is an exciting and fantastic opportunity to be involved in the
initial stages of the delivery of the tree planting programme, assisting in
practical tasks, awareness of on-site health and safety issues, participation
in organised planting sessions and events with the public and aftercare
maintenance.

Responsibilities

To assist in site
preparations-helping to mark out boundaries on several sites using spray and
pitch markings working from scaled plans. Attend site visits to put in place
health and safety awareness-risk assessment/site safety and learn tree planting
and aftercare techniques. Carry out individual planting of selected trees with
supervisor, assist in planting and helping other volunteers on planting days. Help
load and unload tools, materials and trees on planting days. Tool care and
maintenance. Helping at events- helping with bird/bat box making, helping with
bird feeder making and organised themed litter picks.

The project is designed
to help a diverse range of people to obtain practical and theoretical skills in
the environment enabling them to have a positive input into their communities
and encourage a sustainable environment.

The role is designed
to be flexible, and any participation is appreciated. A non-accredited NVQ
Level 2 training can be achieved.

General Requirements

Start date:

End December 2021 through to March
2002-site planning and planting. April 2002 October 2002-site planning, events
and aftercare. Then planting season and sites to be arranged.

This role is flexible so we can work together to agree on dates and times to suit. Although own transport is desirable, transport can be provided if needed.
