Sponsor Governor

Description

Are you passionate about education and ensuring children and young people achieve their best potential?  We are seeking enthusiastic, committed people to strengthen our academy councils, providing support and challenge to the academy and working closely with the principal to ensure each and every student is safe, engaged and achieving.

We have 5 academies in the Stockton on Tees area, 3 in the Saltburn area, as well as 14 other academies across the North East and North West.

Our Stockton academies are Frederick Nattrass Primary Academy, Norton Primary Academy, The Oak Tree Primary Academy, The Grangefield Secondary Academy, and North Shore Secondary Academy.

Academy councils are pivotal in supporting the academy to deliver our vision. The Trust has a robust governance structure, with academy council responsibilities being clearly
defined through our Scheme of Delegation. The academy council governor’s role is to contribute to ensuring these responsibilities are met, focusing on school improvement, holding the senior leadership to account for the academy’s performance, and ensuring strong links are established with the communities we serve.

Joining our family of academy councils will be a hugely enriching experience, and you don’t need to have educational experience to join us – the right attitude, enthusiasm, and the desire to make a difference to children’s lives is most important.

We aim to have a diverse academy council, and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and
protecting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and
expect that all academy council governors will share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on all applicants before appointment is confirmed.

6 meetings are held each year, and academy council governors are encouraged to visit their academies at least once a term.
