Volunteer Mini Bus Driver

To transport, visually impaired people between their home and the the social centre in Middlesbrough in one of the Society’s two mini buses.



Transporting clients, customer service.


  • Guide client from their home, onto mini bus.

  • Drive mini-bus to Centre in Middlesbrough and guide client into Centre.

  • Collect client from Centre at around 2pm to transport home and guide into home.

  • Possible holiday cover for other drivers.

  • Possible driving for outings,

  • Basic vehicle maintenance.


Knowledge & Skills

  • All volunteers will be given visual impairment awareness training.

  • Volunteers must have a full, clean driving licence, with category D1. This is included on most standard licenses.

Personal Qualities

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability and willingness to show empathy towards clients.

  • Good sense of humour.

  • Good time management.

General Requirements

  • Volunteers required to commit to one day a week for a few hours.

  • Volunteers must be over 18 years of age.

  • DBS and all training provided.
