Mend it don’t rag it- Volunteer

Description

Community Sewing Volunteers help give donated clothing a new life by repairing, adapting and upcycling garments, helping to reduce textile waste and support sustainable fashion.

This is a welcoming opportunity for people with different levels of sewing experience, from beginners with a keen interest in learning to those with more advanced sewing and garment construction skills. Volunteers will receive training, guidance and support, with tasks matched to their skills, interests and confidence.

You could be involved in sorting clothing, carrying out simple repairs, using sewing machines or hand-sewing tools, adapting garments, pressing and finishing items, and quality checking clothing for reuse or resale.

It’s a great opportunity to develop practical sewing and textile skills, build confidence, meet others and make a positive environmental and community impact.
