Befriender Independent Visitor

Description


Children and young people in care often experience a lack of consistent adult relationships. We hope the IV role can help bridge this gap by offering them a stable, consistent friendship. The idea is a befriending role where you will go out twice a month to have fun! Matches are made based on interests so both the young person and volunteer are mutually invested. All expenses and travel is paid for so volunteers will never be out of pocket!

Children, young people, care.

  • Taking the young person out a couple of times a month.
  • Training and support given through supervision.
  • Submit expenses and feedback forms after every visit
  • Have fun! The volunteering role should be enjoyable for both the volunteer and young person

Anybody over the age of 21 is welcome! Nobody is ever too old as its your personality that will help make a great match! We provide all training and support, so there are no qualifications or experience needed. We just need reliable, fun, consistent, friendly, safe adults!

  • You need to be 21+ to apply. We welcome enquiries and applications from people of all backgrounds.
  • You live within the Tees Valley, including Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton, East Durham, Darlington, Redcar and surrounding areas.
  • Use of a car is beneficial but not essential.
  • We provide full training, however, some experience of being around children is usually needed.
  • We are looking for volunteers with the right values. People who can befriend, support, advise and are committed to young people reaching their potential.
