Visiting a family with young children in their own home, weekly. Offering 2/3 hours of support both emotionally and practical help. Standing along side families who are struggling, them may be experiencing;   

  • Low mental health
  • loneliness/isolation

  • divorce/separation
  • Asylum seeker
  • Multiple births

Responsibilities

Attending a preparation course before being match to a family, who on average is supported for around nine months, by a volunteer visiting them weekly. 

Knowledge & Skills

Being a parent or having experience of caring for someone. Knowledge of the needs of under 5 year old's. Must important is a non-judgmental attitude, good sense of humor and kindness.

Personal Qualities

Reliability, ability to maintain confidentiality. Humor and kindness.  

General Requirements

DBS check and two references required with a minimum of a years commitment. All volunteers have to attend a preparation course first before they are matched to a family.
