Early Years Programme Volunteer

Early Years Programme Volunteers plan and run hub-based sessions aimed at under-5’s and their parents/carers. These sessions are fun and activity-based, with an aim to increase socialisation of both children and adults.


* Plan, resource, set up and run activities for early years sessions to promote different areas of children’s development. Clear away resources and equipment at the end of session

* Welcome, support and build good relationships with children & families attending sessions

* Be a presence in the room and take an active role in leading the session

* Encourage interaction within the family and between families to increase socialisation

* Empathise and use active listening to support parents in discussing difficulties they are facing

* Encourage them to seek / access support and where possible, signpost them to services

* Keep up to date with information on a wide range of family based services across Stockton, actively promoting Family Hub services within the Hub and the local community

* Keep accurate records, appropriate to the role, using a Family Action template

General Requirements

We ask all of our volunteers to: * Commit to a
minimum of 6 months, 3 hours per week. * Undergo an enhanced Disclosure and
Barring Service (DBS) check * Undergo all training and supervision as required
by Family Action * Comply with Family Action’s policies and procedures,
including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, GDPR and Diversity & Equality *
Safeguard the welfare of children and vulnerable adults * Protect their own
health, safety and welfare * Positively promote the principles of these
policies amongst colleagues, service users, volunteers and other members of the
