Are you ready to help young people push their boundaries, learn skills for life, and get a little bit muddy along the way?
Our Cub packs (for boys and girls aged 8–10½) are a whirlwind of energy, teamwork, and discovery. We are looking for active, enthusiastic adult volunteers to help our Cubs dive into bigger adventures. This is the age where they start learning how to map-read, cook over a campfire, go on weekend camps, and put their problem-solving skills to the test.
Don’t worry about your schedule—we are completely flexible. You don’t need to sign your life away. Whether you want to team up with a co-leader to split the weeks, help out on a rota basis around your shift patterns, or specifically focus on the outdoor/camping trips, we can design a role that fits your lifestyle perfectly.
Hardwick & Roseworth Scout Group
Collaborate with a local volunteer team to plan and deliver exciting, hands-on activities both indoors and outdoors.
Support Cubs as they take on new challenges, learn practical skills (like knotting, first aid, and cooking), and work towards their Silver Chief Scout’s Award.
Encourage team spirit, leadership, and mutual respect within the Cub “Sixes” (small peer groups).
Ensure all activities are run safely and inclusively, letting every child shine.
No prior Scouting or survival skills needed—we provide free training and support!
Good communication skills and an ability to channel the energy of 8-to-10-year-olds positively.
An interest in the outdoors, sports, crafts, or practical skills is great, but a willingness to give things a go is the most important asset.
Enthusiastic, resourceful, and fair.
A team player who enjoys working with other adults to make things happen.
Resilient, positive, and ready to celebrate the achievements of our young people.
Must be 18 or older (though we can also accommodate volunteers aged 14-18 through our young leaders scheme).
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role (completed free of charge through us).
