We create readers because when a child becomes a reader, they get the very best chance in life, and every child deserves that.
At Coram Beanstalk we believe that life is better when everyone can read well and express themselves with confidence. That’s why we recruit, train and support volunteers to work with primary aged children to help them find a love of reading.
Our volunteers work one-to-one with children who would benefit from dedicated time with an adult who can help them with their reading and communication skills. You will be working in a local primary school two afternoons a week.
We provide training and support throughout your role as a volunteer.

Reading Helpers are adult volunteers living or working within a 5 mile radius of a school that has asked for our help. You need to commit to at least an afternoon a week for a whole year during term-time, and as we invest in your training we’d appreciate it if you could stay longer.
The role isn’t about listening to children read, but creating a relaxed session that allows children to work alongside you to discover the joy of books.
