Community Minded is a Stockton based project that supports people to give back to their community, either by volunteering or through a community action group. At the heart of the project is the belief that a good volunteering experience is good for your mental health.

We’d love to hear from you if you already know this and can use your own experience of volunteering to support others in a mentoring role. The role is flexible

You’ll receive training and support to carry out the role and also opportunities for development.

Responsibilities

Main Duties:



·
Establish
and maintain positive and supportive relationships with participants who are
experiencing mental health difficulties



·
Assist, support, encourage and motivate the participants and help them
overcome perceived barriers to participation in pre-volunteering training and
voluntary placements



·
Co-facilitate training with the Community Minded Project Workers



·
Regularly
review participants’ progress and liaise with staff in regard to this.





General:



·
Complete
Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind’s volunteer induction programme and attend any
other training necessary for the role



·
Attend
regular supervision sessions with the project workers. Ongoing group
supervision will also be offered throughout the project.



·
Provide
feedback and attend relevant meetings (where able)



·
Work in a
professional, confidential and non-discriminatory manner at all times and
promote equal opportunities for all



·
Work in
accordance with Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind’s policies and procedures and
maintain accurate records when required.



·
Be a
positive role model



·
To
promote the work of the Community Minded project in a positive way.

General Requirements

This
role is subject to satisfactory references, Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind’s
policies on the Protection of Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults
and an enhanced DBS check and subsequent re-checks.
