Befriender/Buddy (Social Lights)

Description

Social Lights is a volunteering scheme designed to support people who lack confidence to thrive in their community. Whether that be going for a coffee catch up, going bowling, walking, or joining a a group, every activity helps. Giving as little as 1 hour per week can have a huge impact on a person’s wellbeing and confidence.

We receive referrals of adults in receipt of Adult Social Care support through Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. Client needs can range from low level mental health difficulties, learning difficulties, autism, early stages dementia or Alzheimer’s, or any particular barrier to accessing their community. We want everyone to feel empowered and able to reach personal goals and follow interests, whoever they may be.

We don’t require any qualifications or experience for this role and we will provide full training. Whether you are looking for experience in health or social care for future career prospects, or you simple enjoy supporting people to thrive in their community, you can get involved!
