Become a Bike Buddy

Cycle with a refugee in your local area!

Bike Buddies is our befriending refugee program across London, the West Midlands, Cambridge, Oxford and Teesside.

As a buddy, you'll be matched with a refugee cyclist to meet up for cycling activities!

The project aims to build confidence and knowledge of cycling, reduce isolation, improve well-being and encourage social integration and greater independence.

Knowledge & Skills

We will provide applicants with 3 induction sessions in which they'll learn everything about the programme and how to be a Bike Buddy. The sessions will cover what is expected from the volunteers and how to keep yourself and your buddy safe throughout the rides.

Personal Qualities

We'd like the applicants to have good communication skills since they'll be volunteering to help vulnerable people. Experience in working with refugees would be great too. And of course, good cycling skills!

General Requirements

Bike Buddies is a very flexible programme, and we will provide all applicants with DBS checks if they don't already have one.
