Children’s Workshop Assistant Cook


A volunteer workshop cook to assist in preparing and baking healthy cakes, and snacks for primary school children within a woodland environment.

Sport & Active Life

  • Prepare and cook a variety of simple meals¬† and snacks according to the recipes using portable equipment
  • Maintain a clean kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers, and staff to ensure a smooth and safe environment

  • Basic understanding of cooking techniques, baking, and food preparation.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene practices and safety standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in food quality.

  • Good communication –¬† Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Great interaction skills with children.
  • Good time-keeping.
  • Team player – able to work well with other volunteers and staff.
  • Adaptability – ability to handle changes within an outdoor environment with portable equipment.
  • Patience & Understanding – recognise the importance of providing a positive cooking experience for young children

  • Basic experience with cooking
  • Must be able to travel to Wynyard Woodland Park
  • Out-going, with the ability to interact with children
  • Must be available on Friday 2nd Aug and/or 16th August 10-2pm
