Active community volunteering – Bike maintenance (Stockton)


You can help make more active travel happen in your community. By repairing bikes and providing helpful tips, you will support people to use their bikes when travelling in Stockton-on-Tees. You will help within different parts of your local community, including in educational and workplace settings.

Doing bike maintenance activities, you will:

  • help do repairs of bikes in Stockton-on-Tees (tools provided).
  • provide tips on bike care, when needed.
  • support and encourage people to make sustainable travel choices.
  • stay in touch with the local Sustrans team in your area, and with other local partner organisations.
  • complete some paperwork, when needed (e.g., records of repairs you have done).

You will get continued support and training from Sustrans and opportunities to learn more, if interested. There may be an opportunity to obtain Velotech accreditation according to your experience.

Time commitment

We are flexible on how much time you can help each week or month. Let us know what suits you. Usually, people help for around 4 hours per month, but this varies. The sessions occur during the week (day or evening), and sometimes on weekends as part of an organised event.
